TRADE VISITORS - AFTER THE SHOW

The show is over, now it’s time to debrief and go through the material collected. Debriefing is a vital step that must be completed before any follow-up action is taken.

Answer your original questions

 

As soon as you get back to the office, make an assessment based on the following questions:

  • What was the attitude of the market leaders?
  • Have there been developments on the product front?
  • Have you compared this data with other sources of information?
  • What are your impressions?
  • Are you able to answer the questions identified at the planning stage?
  • What were the most memorable surprises?
  • What questions are still unanswered?
  • Did you find a solution for your projects?

Finally, take a few moments to fill in the exhibition organiser’s satisfaction survey: its sole purpose is to determine how the exhibition might be improved so as better to meet your needs.

Evaluate the results

 

Though the results may not always be immediate, the exhibition will nonetheless have enabled you to compare yourself with the market players to see where you fit in. You can then anticipate how the market will develop, define or re-define the direction the company should be taking.

Make use of the information

 

Create contact management forms. This will give you a quick summary of the information gathered on customers (type of product sought), competitors (their prices and products) and suppliers. These forms will come in extremely useful after the show for following up leads efficiently and reporting back to management. Get back in touch with everyone you met personally.
